David has today written to Cllr Mike Stonard, leader of Norwich City Council, about the four-day working week. Norwich Conservatives conducted a survey of Norwich South residents to find out your views on the four-day week idea being explored by Norwich City Council. Three-quarters of residents who responded were against the idea, and two-thirds believe that the Council should consult residents before making a decision.
Survey responses also highlighted specific worries, such as the fear of reduced accessibility to council services, decline in service quality, and the fairness of maintaining full pay despite reduced working hours whilst council tax payers continue to work full hours.
Whilst residents wanted to support the Council in being a good employer, they felt that other options should be considered that pose less of a risk to public services.
